Project overview
Grandir Aventure is a platform dedicated to organising summer camps abroad for young people.
The project aimed to offer a smooth, automated experience, for users and for the team in charge of content alike.
My role was to design and build the whole website, from front-end to back-end, including automated management of stays through an external API.
Objectives
- Build a modern, clear and easy-to-manage WordPress website.
- Automate the daily retrieval of stays from an external XML API.
- Daily catalogue synchronisation: automatic adding, updating and removal of stays.
- Give visitors a smooth, intuitive search with dynamic filters.
Development and technical integration
As a full-stack developer, I built all of the site’s features:
- Complete WordPress theme development, structured around the client’s needs.
- API integration: a daily call retrieves the stays from an XML source, converts them to JSON and inserts them into WordPress automatically.
- Post creation and management with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and WordPress metadata for structured, scalable storage.
- Automatic synchronisation: expired stays are removed and data is continuously updated.
- Real-time filters using the Grid Builder plugin, greatly improving navigation.
Result
The Grandir Aventure website is now fully automated:
stays are imported, updated and removed without any manual intervention.
This solution helped the team work more efficiently and guarantees users content that is reliable and always up to date.
